The host resort of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler-Blackcomb, boasts abundant snowfall, attracting winter sports enthusiasts. It also offers over 200 marked trails, more than 100 kilometers of off-piste terrain, 5 snow parks, and 3 glaciers. Add to that a magnificent natural setting, and you have a destination that, just a two-hour drive from Vancouver, will also delight fans of mountain biking, rafting, paragliding, climbing, hiking, and canoeing/kayaking in the summer. Thanks to the Peak2Peak gondola, a 4.4 km long cable car connecting two of the resort's peaks, you'll enjoy a spectacular 360° panoramic view of the mountains, whatever the season.
The ski school is located in an exceptional location in Whistler's main village, just 150 steps from the gondolas.
The Tamwood school in Whistler offers English courses all year round:

During the summer from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
During the winter from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Facilities: classrooms, relaxation area, place to store your ski equipment, 10 computers and Wi-Fi.
Foster family
  • Homestay with half-board during the week (full board on weekends) in a private room.
  • Student residence without meals in shared rooms (6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, 2 terraces, large room for storing sports equipment, Wi-Fi). 20 minutes by bus or bicycle from the school. Minimum age: 19 years.
Once you leave the classroom, as you'll soon realize, there are plenty of ways to unwind! Especially since the ski/snowboard season starts in late November and lasts until early August thanks to the glacier. In April, you can ski in the morning and play golf or cycle in the afternoon. Renowned for its lively atmosphere, Whistler doesn't usually stay up early with its twenty or so bars and nightclubs. A Working Holiday Visa during which you certainly won't be bored.
