Daegu is the official arrival city for participants in the Working Holiday Visa program in South Korea . Every month, an international group of young people from all over the world (including you) meet there to begin their Korean adventure in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Located between Seoul and Busan , Daegu is the country's main student city , known for its dynamism, youthful atmosphere, and more affordable cost of living than Seoul. It is also a major industrial hub , particularly in the fields of electronics, textiles, and new technologies—an excellent starting point for finding employment.
The city also stands out for its rich cultural life and numerous festivals throughout the year , in a welcoming and creative setting, ideal for a first immersion in South Korea .
Location : Situated in the heart of the Gyeongsang region, in North Gyeongsang Province, Daegu is often called the "City of Angels" in South Korea. Daegu is an excellent destination to start your Working Holiday Visa in South Korea .
Distinctive feature : "Duryu Park", the city's main green space, offers a harmonious blend of nature and urbanism.
Climate : The climate is temperate with cold, dry winters and hot, humid summers. The best times to visit are spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November).
Population : Daegu has approximately 2.4 million inhabitants.
The must-sees : Palgongsan Mountain, Donghwasa Temple, Daegu Arboretum, Seomun Market, Kim Gwang-seok Street, Apsan Park, E-world Theme Park, and many others.
Type of work : In Daegu and its surroundings, several large companies such as Samsung and Coupang are recruiting staff with little or no knowledge of Korean for simple tasks such as packing for shipment, loading and unloading goods, or labeling products.
Your Basic arrival package includes the same services as our standard package , with the added benefit of 28 nights' accommodation in downtown Daegu —a unique feature of this destination.
The administrative procedures required to be ready to work in South Korea take a little longer.
The hostel is ideally located, just steps from bars, restaurants, and shops , in a central and lively area. You have two options:
Shared room (4 to 8 beds) included in the basic package.
Twin room available as an option, with supplement.
During these four weeks, you will also participate in group activities , ideal for meeting other Working Holiday Visa holders and discovering the local culture.
During your settling-in month, you can take Korean language classes at a school located a few minutes' walk from your accommodation.
Two rhythms are offered:
2 classes per week , or
4 classes per week ,
each session lasting 1 hour 30 minutes .
These courses are primarily aimed at beginners . If you have prior knowledge of Korean , they will provide you with the basic skills needed to communicate in everyday situations and find employment .
Learning in Daegu is less intensive than in our other destinations like Seoul or Busan , where courses take place in international schools that welcome students and travelers from all over the world with varying levels of study. Here, the experience is more local, accessible, and immersive —perfect for a first taste of the language.
Afterwards, you can continue your studies in Seoul or Busan to deepen your level and experience the full life of an international school , with the option of staying with a host family or in a student flatshare .
In addition, the school offers free language exchanges every day, morning and evening: an ideal opportunity to practice Korean with locals while teaching them English in return.
