Functioning

  1. Document preparation:

    • Fill out the application form.
    • Write a cover letter.
    • Attach a CV (if necessary).
    • Complete a specific questionnaire (for equestrian farms).
    • Provide references and copies of documents (example: passport, photos).
  2. Submission and selection:

    • Analysis of documents by program managers.
    • Placement confirmation with the sending of detailed information, including farm profile and directions.
  3. Trip organization:

    • Choice between going directly to the farm or going through Vancouver for preliminary orientation.
  4. Life on the farm:

    • Participation in agricultural tasks and the daily activities of the host family.
    • Complete immersion in a rural environment, often far from major cities.
    • Ongoing support is provided by the program partners, who act as mediators when needed and ensure the success of the experience.
  5. Ongoing support:

    • The program partners remain available to support participants in case of problems or questions.

Dates

Investments are generally preferred between April and October, with more limited options from November to March.

Required profile

  • Physical condition: To be in good physical condition.
  • Health: No serious allergies or incompatible medical problems.
  • Participation: Be motivated to get involved in daily tasks such as cleaning, maintenance, animal care, and other agricultural activities.
  • Age: Must be between 20 and 28 years old (exceptions may be made for participants under 20 or up to 30 years old).
  • Language skills: Possess an upper-intermediate level of English (6/10 or more).
  • Travel insurance: Provide proof of valid insurance.
  • Specific experience: Some farms, such as those dedicated to breeding or training horses, require specific qualifications (for example, at least 5 years of riding experience).
  • Telephone interview: May be required in some cases, with the host family or the program supervisor.
  • Accommodation and meals on the farm.
  • Sending a detailed farm profile before arrival.
  • Access to telephone and laundry facilities on site.
  • Bed linen and towels provided.
  • Orientation (for participants arriving in Vancouver).
